Cleanser Tips!

This weeks blog will take a dive into what MANY clients have at home. Cleansers AKA face wash. This is THE MOST important step to your at home skin care regimen. It has been said that the toxins our body comes across on any given day, the bacteria we get from touching our faces (which I know all of you realize you do SO much now since Covid), the makeup we wear daily, and the oils our skin naturally produces- our skin ages 10X faster by not washing your face daily!

Cleansers are an essential part of our skin routine. Double cleansing is especially important to make sure we are going to sleep with a perfectly bare canvas. Having a bare canvas will also ensure you are reaping the benefits of all steps to follow! So what exactly is double cleansing? Double cleansing is a method of cleansing the face twice typically starting with an oil-based cleanser and then following with a water-based cleanser. Oil-based cleansers are usually liquid or balms that help break down makeup, SPF and sebum on the surface of your skin. Then, using a water-based cleanser such as a gel, cream, or foaming cleanser will help remove stubborn, pore-clogging and acne-causing impurities that can be left behind after only one cleanse. While, your first cleanse removes any surface dirt and debris, the second cleanse will provide a deeper clean. A second cleanser can also be used to address more specific skin concerns such as treating acne, hydrating the skin, controlling sebum production, or providing a light exfoliation. This method is best for your night routine while we recommend sticking to using only one cleanser in the morning to avoid over-washing. Check out some of our favorite cleansers below and although it may add a couple minutes to your routine, you’ll find this extra step will make a huge difference in your overall results!

How to properly use a cleanser:

When cleansing your skin you should always wash in upward circular motions!

How often you should cleanse & how much to use:

Most of our cleansers are in a pump, you should be using about a nickel size amount (2/3 pumps) for the whole face and neck. You should be cleansing your face every morning & every night. Cleansers about 8oz's in size should last you about 2 months, using them correctly.
